Veteran Actor Mukul Dev Passes Away at 54; Tributes Pour In from Film Industry

Mukul Dev, the versatile actor known for his work across Hindi, Punjabi, and South Indian cinema as well as television, has passed away at the age of 54. The news has left the Indian entertainment fraternity and fans in deep mourning.

Born on September 17, 1970, in New Delhi, Mukul began his acting journey in 1996 with the television series Mumkin and made his film debut the same year in Dastak alongside Sushmita Sen. Over the next two decades, he became a familiar face in movies and TV shows across multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam.

His notable film credits include Son of Sardaar, R…Rajkumar, and Jai Ho, among others. Known for his range and effortless screen presence, Mukul carved a unique niche in both mainstream and regional cinema.

Tributes began pouring in soon after the news of his death surfaced. Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who co-starred with Mukul in Dastak, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing, “It’s impossible to put into words what I’m feeling. Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young… Miss you meri jaan… until we meet again. Om Shanti.”

Actor Vindu Dara Singh also took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his sorrow: “Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev! The time spent with you will always be cherished and Son of Sardaar 2 will be your swansong where you will spread joy and happiness to the viewers and make them fall down laughing!”

Mukul Dev’s passing marks a significant loss to Indian cinema. He is remembered not only for his artistic contributions but also for his warmth, camaraderie, and passion for storytelling.
